SSP Health News - Bridge Street Breast Cancer Screening - One of top 6 in their region

Bridge Street surgery, Newton le Willows, have been congratulated recently for the performance in increasing the number of people attending breast cancer screening sessions. 

Halton and St.Helens PCT recently sent a letter to Bridge Street, showing the increases in not only the uptake of scans, but also detection of early breast cancer to the top 6 performing practices within the PCTs region.

Bridge Street showed the biggest increase from the previous wave of encouraging patients to attend a screening session and as a result, an additional 200 women were screened from the top 6 practices. 

The screening programme has helped in the detection of breast cancer, especially in the early stages and combining the results of the top 6 practices, early, treatable breast cancer was found in 21 women from the 2631 screened. Helping these 21 women beat breast cancer is worth running the programme.
