SSP Health News - Health and Social Care Award Win

The Acute Visiting Scheme, headed by Dr Shikha Pitalia, was announced as the winner of the NHS Live Award at the Health and Social Care Awards. 

The Visiting Scheme project, currently being run in conjunction with Halton and St Helens PCT, has achieved a significant reduction in hospital admissions and has the potential to be replicated by other PCTs. Benefits to patients include improved access to primary care, the option to stay at home to receive care, reduced exposure to hospital acquired infections and a fast response to a request for clinical reassurance. 

A patient survey on the service indicates 90% satisfaction.
