Following our recent patient survey, we have adapted our appointment system to offer a range of appointments to suit all patients.

Chronic Disease Management
Our nurses are here to help you manage your health if you have any of the following conditions, our nurses want to see you every year to check that everything's going OK
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
Our Practice Nurse Sue holds a Minor Surgery clinic every 3 weeks by appointment only.
Going abroad? Give us a call and we will find out what vaccines you need and then book you to have them.
We are also a registered Yellow Fever Centre, licensed to administer yellow fever vaccinations to both registered and non-registered patients. There is a charge for this service.
You will receive an appointment for any childhood immunisations for a Tuesday morning between 9am and 12pm.
Child Health Surveillance
The Health Visitors can be contacted at Ashton Clinic on 01942 775300.
Post-Natal examinations and 7 week baby checks are done at the surgery on a Monday afternoon. Contact reception to arrange an appointment.
The Midwives are here every Thursday between 1.30pm and 3pm, if you have just find out you a pregnant it is important you book in with the Midwife as soon as possible so that can arrange for your 12 week scan and get you booked in at the hospital. To book an appointment, please contact reception.
The NHS Cervical Screening Programme invites all women between the ages of 25 and 64 for cervical screening either 3 yearly or 5 yearly depending on your age. When you receive a letter in the post, please contact the surgery to make an appointment.

The practice also offers Find & Treat reviews for our patients aged 40-74 years. Please ring and book your appointment with Lynn our Health Care Assistant. We have a Health Trainer in practice who provides advice on diet, alcohol, exercise and smoking. Smoking cessation is also available with our Health Trainer or our Healthcare Assistant. Please contact surgery for appointment.

The practice will supply you with a blood form if you need a blood test, this will either be given to you at surgery or will be sent to you in the post as part of our Annual Review recall system.
Please check whether your form asks you to fast. If you are required to fast, please have only sips of water for 8 hours before the test. Please take any medication as normal.
You will need to contact the surgery between 7 to 10 days later to receive the results of your blood test and find out what you need to do next.
You can have your blood test done in surgery by making an appointment with the receptionist. Our phlebotomist comes into practice on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.

The nearest train station is Bryn, this station is situated on the Liverpool to Wigan line. Bryn station is a short 5 minute walk away from the surgery.
How to Complain
How to Complain
We would hope that you have received excellent service from our practice. If you do not feel you have received this and would like to make a complaint there are various methods you can follow.
1.You can make a verbal complaint by ringing and discussing your concerns with the practice manager who will then investigate your complaint and ways on how we can help to resolve. There is also a complaints leaflet available in the reception area for you to come and collect which explains the various methods in which to complain.
2. Under the NHS Complaints Regulations 2009 you can either choose to complain to the Practice direct as experience tells us that by dealing with us directly, concerns can often be sorted out quickly and to your satisfaction. If you are not happy to complain direct to the practice, you may want NHS England to deal with your complaint as they commission the service that has caused you to complain. The choice about who you want to deal with your complaint remains your decision.

3. Should you not be happy with the response regarding your complaint, you have the right to approach the Ombudsman. The contact details for the Ombudsman will be given to you in your complaint response.

Leigh Walk In Centre
Offers healthcare advice and treatment without having to make an appointment, take time off or rearrange your day. You can find it located in the last building to the left hand side of the main entrance at Leigh Infirmary. It is open from 07.00am in the morning to 9.00pm at night, seven days a week. Ashton Medical Centre currently offers on-line access to appointments and ordering of repeat prescriptions.
Additionally, by end of March 2015 we intend to extend our facility to enable you to access your medical records online whereby you will be able to view your medical records and export or print any summary information.
You will be kept informed as and when such facility has been made available by our Clinical IT Team.
