GP Appointments

We aim to provide a friendly and efficient service to all of our patients. the following information and advice shows how you can help us to do this to the best of our ability.

We have 2 GP's working in the practice Dr Sharma and Dr Hasan who is a lady doctor, consultations are by appointment morning and evening surgeries. Patients can either pre-book appointments up to 6 weeks in advance or book on the day. The phone lines open at 8am.

Nurse Appointments

The Practice Nurse is Sister Denise Heath, consultations by appointment for Asthma, Diabetes, Stop Smoking clinic, Travel Advice, Family Planning, Cervical Smears, Blood Tests, Health Advice, Well Person Checks etc.

Blood Tests

Blood Testing

The practice will supply you with a blood form if you need a blood test, this will either be given to you at surgery or will be sent to you in the post as part of our Annual Review recall system.

Please check whether your form asks you to fast. If you are required to fast, please have only sips of water for 8 hours before the test. Please take any medication as normal.

You will need to contact the surgery between 7 to 10 days later to receive the results of your blood test and find out what you need to do next.

Upton Rocks Surgery is located on the Widnes Rugby Union Football Club car park in porta cabins on Heath Road which is off Prescot Road, Widnes WA8 7NU.

Public Transport

The surgery can be accessed via the No 14 bus from Widnes Town Centre heading west or the No 14 from Hough Green heading east towards Widnes Town Centre.

Patients are advised to use the Chestnut Lodge bus stop and head towards the crossroad then turn right into Prescot Road and then right again into Heath Road then take a left into the car park. At present there is no direct bus route from Cronton, but there are plans for a bus route from Cronton in the near future to accommodate the people of Cronton and the Upton Rocks Estate.

Out of Hours

The out of hours service provided by Upton Rocks Surgery is Devon Doctors which is situated at HCRC, Caldwell Road, Widnes.

Whenever the surgery is closed Devon Doctors are responsible for emergency treatment only, anything else should be seen at a routine appointment at the surgery.

The telephone number for Devon Doctors is available on the answering machine when the surgery is closed, the call will be triarged by the nurse on duty and the patient will be contacted.

Patients are seen by appointment only, the emergency out of hours is not a walk-in Centre. Patients can also contact NHS Direct for enquiries on 0845 4647.
