The owners of SSP Health have donated £5,000 to each hospice in Wigan and Bolton.
Wigan and Leigh Hospice and Bolton Hospice each received a cheque from SSP Health Director and GP Dr Shikha Pitalia in recognition of the tremendous work the hospices do.
SSP Health runs GP practices across the North West and owners Dr Pitalia and her husband, Dr Sanjay Pitalia, have donated the money from their personal SSP Health Charitable Trust.
Dr Shikha Pitalia said: “A number of our patients and their families have benefited from the excellent care and support that is provided at these two hospices and we are delighted to give this money to help that to continue.”
Dr Alan Baron, Chief Executive of Wigan and Leigh Hospice, said: “We offer a wide range of specialised healthcare services to patients across the borough and demand for these services is increasing.
“The support of organisations like SSP Health is absolutely vital to ensure that people with life-limiting conditions can access the hospice care that they need. We are very grateful to SSP Health for their kind donation.”
Bolton Hospice Director of Income Generation and Communication, Caroline Savage, said: “We are truly grateful for this generous donation. As a hospice, we rely totally on the generosity of our donors in order to raise the £4million a year we need to keep offering our free service to those who need it the most in Bolton.
“As GPs themselves, the Pitalias are acutely aware of the needs of the hospice and for them to help out in this manner is a truly meaningful gesture that will undoubtedly make a difference.”
