Women in St Helens can have a smear test without an appointment next week when a walk-in centre will give them a screening.
It is Jo’s Trust Cervical Screening Awareness Week from Monday when women are encouraged to have a smear test. Screening is the best protection against cervical cancer, with the Jo’s Trust programme saving 5,000 lives every year.

The drop-in cervical smear clinic will operate at Newton Community Hospital Practice, Blue Zone 1st Floor, Newton Hospital, on Bradlegh Road in Newton le Willows, from 9am until 12pm.
Also, at part of the awareness week, staff at SSP Health are being given the chance to have their smear test done at any of the company’s practices irrespective of where they are registered, to ensure they do not need to take time off work to have their screening.
