Plans for Coronavirus vaccinations
SSP Health is working with local health authorities to get ready for the delivery of COVID-19 vaccinations through GP practices.
We don’t currently know when the Covid-19 vaccines will be available, but our GP practices are working with the NHS and local agencies to be ready from the start of December to give it to priority groups.
The Government has said that, like flu, the most vulnerable people will be offered the vaccination first, with larger numbers of people being offered it later in the new year when more vaccine is expected to be available.
Different vaccines are in clinical trials, with each vaccine having different practical requirements for delivery. Plans for giving the vaccine to patients will be finalised when we know when and what vaccines will be approved and available for us to use.
At the moment, we don’t have any further details and cannot give you any information on when you will be able to book a COVID-19 vaccination, so please do not ring your GP practice for details about the vaccine.
We will contact patients in due course about the vaccine when the plans are in place.
In the meantime, we are encouraging patients who are eligible for a free flu vaccination to have it as soon as possible as they may need a short gap between the flu vaccination and COVID vaccination.
