GP Appointments

We have both male and female GPs at New Bank Health Centre and you are welcome to request a particular GP should you wish to do so.

We offer on the day appointments for patients who need to be see urgently.

We are able to offer routine GP appointments quickly and at a time which is convenient to you.

Nurse Appointments

Chronic Disease Management

Our nurses are here to help you manage your health if you have any of the following conditions, our nurses want to see you every year to check that everything's going OK

  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Heart Disease
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Stroke
  • Heart Failure
  • Coronary vascular disease prevention


Our Practice Nurse also provides the following clinics

  • Travel immunisations
  • Influenza clinic (winter time)
  • Phlebotomy
  • Pneumonia vaccination. This is available all year round for over 65s
  • Baby immunisations
  • Alcohol & drug misuse
  • Mental health


We offer an ante-natal clinic with the midwife on Monday morning.

We also offer hearing tests and hearing clinics with our audiologist, contact our reception for more information.

We also have regular visits from an alcohol counsellor and mental health worker.

Blood Tests

The practice will supply you with a blood form if you need a blood test. This will either be given to you at surgery or will be sent to you in the post as part of our Annual Review recall system.

Blood testing is done at the practice by our health care assistant or practice nurse. If you have been given a form, please contact reception to make an appointment.

Please check whether your form asks you to fast. If you are required to fast, please have only sips of water for 8 hours before the test. Please take any medication as normal.

You will need to contact the surgery between 5 to 7 working days later to receive the results of your blood test and find out what you need to do next.


New Bank Health Centre is located on the A6 (Stockport Road) at the junction with Plymouth Grove in Longsight.

We have a car park which patients and visitors are welcome to use.

Out of Hours

During the hours the surgery is closed our calls will be diverted to NHS 111. Calls to NHS 111 are free from both mobile and landlines. If you have a life-threatening medical emergency during these times please dial 999


A walk-in service is available at: Hawthorns Medical Centre, Unit K - Fallowfield Retail Park, Birchfields Road, Manchester, M14 6FS. Open 8.00am - 8.00pm on weekdays and 9.00am - 5.00pm on weekends.

Patients are welcome to walk-in without an appointment.

Other information

All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice. The average pay for GPs working in New Bank Health Centre in the last financial year was £47,963.92  before tax and NI. This calculation is for 1 full-time GPs and 3 locum GPs, who has worked in the practice for more than 6 months.
