SSP Health Choir brightens up Christmas
SSP Health made Christmas that bit more special when its new choir sang for people at two local hospices.
The staff choir sang a selection of carols and festive songs at Bolton Hospice and Wigan and Leigh Hospice and are planning more ‘gigs’ – including one at a care home – before Christmas Day.
The choir, pictured, has been practising for several weeks and will continue to sing together next year.
SSP Health’s Chief Operating Officer Noeleen Bailey said: “SSP Health strongly believes in staff retention and well-being. We took the initiative to write to our staff to ask for volunteers to form a choir with the objective of not only improving staff well-being but also that of our patients.
“We scheduled rehearsal dates, sent out expressions of interest forms for choristers and for song suggestions.
“Our journey began here and has been an extremely enjoyable one. Staff comment that it leaves them going back to work in a better mood, they find it uplifting, it leaves them feeling positive for the rest of the afternoon. We have made it fun and welcoming for singers of every level.”
