Appointments

Appointments may be made either:
  • In person
  • By telephoning the practice
  • Online – via the link at the top of this page. You will need to ask reception for an on-line booking user name and password.

You will be asked the reason for your appointment. This is to enable us to make your appointment with the most suitable Clinician, for example, blood pressure checks and smears are undertaken by the practice nurses.

Urgent / Same Day Appointments

Please contact the practice to book an appointment for the same day.

Please note that between 08:00 and 09:00 the practice receives a high volume of calls. If your call does not relate to an appointment, you may wish to avoid this time to make your call.

Please note that for urgent appointments you will be seen by ANY available doctor. Every effort will be made for you to be seen by the doctor of your choice but this is not always possible.

Routine Appointments

Routine appointments may be made in advance (maximum 6 weeks) which will enable us to offer you an appointment at a time that is convenient for you.

Non-Urgent Appointments

If your condition is non-urgent, you can expect to see a Clinician within 5 working days, though you may have to wait longer if you want to see a particular GP.  If you don’t need an appointment within 5 working days, you have the option to book up to 6 weeks in advance if this is more convenient.

Minor Illness Clinic

Appointments are available with our minor illness nurse every day Monday to Friday.

The benefits of using the Minor Illness Clinic are:
  • You can obtain the quick treatment of conditions you have had for a short time (less than a week) or if your asthma or bronchitis is worsening.
  • You can obtain appropriate medical attention for your Minor Illness.
  • More appointments are made available for patients with serious conditions that need to be seen by a doctor.

When you ask for an appointment kindly mention to the receptionist that you would like to be seen in the minor illness clinic but kindly give the reason why you would like to be seen so that we can check that it is appropriate for you.

Telephone Consultations

Patients can request to have a telephone consultation with the doctor. This can be useful, particularly for follow up consultations. Kindly inform the receptionist of the reason for your request and it may be possible to ask for a telephone consultation with a particular doctor.

By using the telephone consultation service you may benefit by making fewer journeys to the practice.

Out of Hours

When We Are Closed

If you need to access a health professional in an emergency between 18:30 and 08:00 Monday to Friday or after 12:00 on Saturday for the weekends and bank holidays, you should call NHS 111. This is a free telephone number for when your complaint is less urgent than 999.
  • Your call will be answered by a dedicated team.
  • They will ask some questions to assess the urgency of the call. You may be passed to a nurse for further assessment and advice.
  • Appointments are given based on the urgency of your call.
  • Not every caller will need to see a doctor.

In addition your pharmacist may be able to help you.

Out-of-hours services are generally busy so please think carefully before asking to see a doctor and only do so if you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

In a genuine emergency you should call 999. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
